01Tank G (Fuzz/Distortion)

This is your Big Muff substitute — the Tank G's fuzz circuit handles the snarling sustain. Run into amp input, amp stays clean to avoid mud.

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Set to +1 octave for the squealing post-chorus bends. Essential for authenticity.

Why these settings

Original used DSL100's high-gain channel with fuzz DI'd separately. Your MG30CFX's OD1 is voiced brighter and thinner than a DSL, so I dropped amp gain to 3 (letting the Tank G provide ALL the dirt) and pushed mids +1 from the original's scooped 4 to compensate for the MG's weaker mid presence. Your Les Paul's humbuckers are hotter than Bellamy's Manson, so the fuzz will saturate faster — back off guitar volume to 8 if it gets too compressed.

PRO TIPThe iconic 'talking' quality of that riff comes from muting with the palm edge RIGHT at the bridge saddles while picking aggressively — too far back and it's muddy, too far forward and you lose the vowel-like 'wah' envelope. Roll your tone knob to 6-7 during the verse for extra vocal honk.
