A DS-1 ($50 new) stacked into the amp's drive channel will add the compression and harmonic content missing from solid-state clipping. Why these settings

The original tone came from high-wattage tube amps cranked into saturation with active EMG pickups. Your Frontman 15G is a solid-state practice amp with a Fender-voiced EQ (scooped mids, bright treble). I've compensated by dropping mids to 4 (mimicking Hetfield's scooped sound), pushing bass to 7 for palm-mute thump, and maxing gain since solid-state drive is thinner than tube saturation. Your Jackson's passive humbuckers are cooler than EMGs, so gain stays high. The clean bridge section requires switching to the Normal channel with volume at 5, gain irrelevant.

PRO TIPFor the tight 'chug' on palm-muted riffs, anchor your picking hand firmly on the bridge saddles and pick aggressively right above the bridge pickup — the attack comes from your right hand, not the amp. During the clean interlude (3:20), switch to Normal channel, roll your guitar volume to 7, and pick over the neck for warmth.
