RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The MG15's OD channel cannot reach IIC+ saturation levels. A Metal Zone, Boss DS-1, or TC Electronic Dark Matter gets you much closer. If using a pedal, set amp to Clean channel with gain at 2-3.

Why these settings

The MG15 is a practice solid-state amp with limited gain saturation — it cannot replicate the IIC+'s cascading preamp stages. Your Strat's single-coil bridge pickup is much lower output and brighter than Hetfield's EMG-81, so I've pushed bass +1 and dropped mid further to compensate for the inherent single-coil brightness and thinner low end. Without a high-gain pedal, you'll get a crunchy approximation but not the tight, crushing saturation of the original. The missing presence and reverb knobs on the MG15 are nulled.

PRO TIPDownpick everything — Hetfield's relentless downstroke picking is half the tone. Palm mute firmly right at the bridge saddles for maximum tightness, and dig in hard with the pick angled slightly. Your Strat's bridge single-coil will sound tighter if you lower the pickup height slightly to reduce bass bloom.
