01Boss DS-1 Distortion
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone; the Twin cannot produce high-gain on its own. A Boss DS-1 or MT-2 Metal Zone gets you closest to the scooped Mesa IIC+ character. Run into amp's clean channel.
02Boss GE-7 Equalizer
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Creates the signature V-curve EQ scoop that defines this tone. Place after the distortion pedal.
The Fender Twin is a clean platform amp with no preamp gain — it cannot produce thrash distortion without pedals. Amp gain set to 3 keeps the Twin clean; all saturation comes from the recommended DS-1. Mid at 3 compensates for the Twin's naturally scooped voicing (the Mesa IIC+ is mid-forward before the V-curve EQ). Treble dropped from the original's 6-7 to 5 because single-coil Strats are brighter than Hetfield's humbuckers.
