01Distortion Pedal (Boss DS-1 or similar)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone. The Frontman 10G cannot produce high-gain metal saturation on its own. A DS-1 ($50 new) or Joyo JF-01 ($30) will get you 70% there. Run amp gain at 3-4 with this pedal.
The Frontman 10G is a 10-watt solid-state practice amp with a single overdrive channel—it physically cannot produce Bogner Triple Giant saturation. I maxed gain and pushed mids hard (+2 vs original) because this amp is scooped and thin at low volumes. Bass dropped to 3 (vs original 5-6) to prevent mud in the small speaker. Without a distortion pedal, this will sound like angry bees, not Megadeth—the pedal recommendation is not optional for this tone.
