The MS1959 Plexi model in the GT-1 delivers the cranked British core, but the Jackson JS22 ceramic humbuckers have a sharper attack than Neal Schon's Gibson Les Paul. To compensate, mids are boosted to 8 while treble and presence are capped at 5 and 4 to tame the ceramic bite. The neck pickup with the tone rolled off slightly to 7 rounds the attack into Schon's famous vocal, flute-like sustain.
