Why these settings

Original uses both Marshall channels maxed with zero presence/treble for warm, dark clean power-amp saturation. GT-1's JC-120 model provides the cleanest high-headroom platform; we add bass +2 and cut treble -3 from a typical Fender-voiced clean to replicate the Marshall's dark voicing. Delay block placed BEFORE a light preamp block mimics the Echoplex's signal-path position and preamp coloration. Your Player Strat's Alnico 5 neck pickup is brighter than Johnson's vintage single-coil, so tone knob at 7 (not 10) warms it.

PRO TIPJohnson uses 'bounce' picking — brush upstrokes lightly across the string instead of plucking them. This minimizes percussive attack and creates the violin-like sustain. Practice it by letting the pick glide on upstrokes while anchoring downstrokes.
