The Vox AC15 is naturally chimey and upper-mid forward compared to Mayer's big-headroom 6L6 Two-Rock/Fender platforms, so use the Normal channel instead of Top Boost to keep the tone woody and round. Set the AC15 Tone Cut knob to around 5 (halfway) to tame the EL84 chime and bring the Silver Sky single coils into warm, punchy Mayer territory. The AC15 lacks separate Mid and Presence controls, with EQ shared across the Top Boost section, making Normal channel Volume and Master your primary clean-headroom levers.
