Voodoo child amp settings — Fender Twin Reverb
The Jimi hendrix guitar tone for “Voodoo child”, dialed in for a Fender Twin Reverb with a Fender Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster. Studio version, Electric Ladyland (1968)
Fender Stratocaster (tuned Eb standard) into Vox Clyde McCoy Wah -> Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face -> Roger Mayer Octavia -> cranked Marshall Super Lead 100W with 4x12 cabs
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Bass | 5 |
| Mid | 8 |
| Treble | 5 |
| Reverb | 2 |
| Master | 4 |
01Jim Dunlop Cry Baby GCB95
Active on intro muted rhythms and swells; rock back-and-forth rhythmically.
02Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9
Used to replicate the saturated, mid-pushed Marshall/Fuzz clipping into the clean Fender Twin.
03Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face (Germanium / Silicon)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; place before the TS9 for genuine Hendrix fuzz breakup.
The Fender Twin Reverb has immense clean headroom and a naturally scooped midrange compared to Hendrix's cranked 100W Marshall Super Lead. Push the Twin's Middle to 8, keep the Bright Switch OFF, and roll Treble down to 5 to tame harsh top-end single-coil piercing. Drive the TS9 hard to inject the thick mid-hump and compression that the Twin's pristine preamp cannot produce natively.
