01Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive
Used as a tight boost only — tightens low-end for palm-mutes, not adding saturation
The JCM900's Ultra Gain channel is mid-forward compared to the scooped 5150/Rectifier original, so mids are cut to 3 (vs 5-6 on a 5150). Your passive Jackson pickups have lower output than EMG 81s, so gain is pushed to 8 and the SD-1 is used as a clean boost (Drive at 2, Level at 8) to compensate and tighten the low-end for those machine-gun palm-mutes. The JCM900 naturally has more presence bite than a Recto, so presence is dialed carefully to 6 to avoid fizz.
