The DiMarzio Evolution neck pickup on the JEM7V is hotter and brighter with tighter ceramic response than Slash's Alnico II humbuckers, so rolling guitar tone to 7 and pulling preamp treble to 5 warms up the top end. Pushing the mids to 8 replicates the Caswell modded Plexi upper-mid bark while keeping the lows tight. Main solo transition: flip to bridge pickup and roll guitar tone wide open to 10.

PRO TIPSlash used the neck pickup exclusively for the signature intro riff with the tone rolled slightly back, picking with medium-heavy downward strokes right over the neck pickup to accentuate the rounded, flute-like attack.
