Why these settings

The Jackson JS22 ceramic humbuckers have a harsher top end and higher output than Slash's Alnico II Pro PAFs. We compensate by cutting the GT-1 amp treble and presence to smooth out the highs, while rolling the guitar's tone knob down to 5 to replicate his signature vocal neck-pickup sweep. A gentle Tube Screamer boost tightens the ceramic low-end into the STACK amp model without adding excess fizz.

PRO TIPPick with the rounded edge of a heavy 1.14mm Tortex pick near the neck joint rather than close to the bridge; combined with the rolled-off tone knob on the neck pickup, this generates Slash's characteristic flute-like, cello attack on bent notes.
