01Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive (RECOMMENDED — not currently owned)
RECOMMENDED — Use as a clean boost to push the amp model into singing sustain. Slash didn't use pedals on the original, but the Mustang LT25's modeling benefits from a boost to emulate power-tube saturation. If you have a Boss DS-1 or BD-2, use those with Drive at 2-3 and Level at 7.
The Fender Mustang LT25's British 80s model approximates a JCM800 voicing. Slash's tone is mid-forward and warm, not scooped — push mids to 7 where a real JCM800 would sit around 5-6 because the Mustang's modeling is slightly thinner in the midrange. Your Squier's single coils are brighter and lower output than Slash's humbuckers, so the neck position with tone rolled to 7 fattens the sound. Gain at 6 gives breakup without fizz.
