Engage internal noise gate to keep Drop C# staccato chugs tight and percussive
The Marshall Code 50 replicates Stephen Carpenter's JMP-1 high-gain rack sound through its modern high-gain Marshall models (OD JVM or JCM800 into a 1960 4x12 cab simulation). To compensate for the Stratocaster's brighter, lower-output single-coil bridge pickup compared to Carpenter's hot Seymour Duncan humbucker, gain is pushed to 8 and bass is raised to 7 to inject low-end body and punch. Treble is dialed to 6 to retain Carpenter's cutting pick attack without letting the Strat single-coil turn harsh. Clean chorus verse: roll guitar volume back to 4 or switch to the neck pickup with internal chorus on.
