Signal chain

01Marshall Code Onboard Graphic EQ (use the built-in Studio EQ preset)

Critical for the V-curve scoop — place pre-amp in signal chain via Code's effects section

100Hz 7 · 250Hz 6 · 800Hz 2 · 1.6kHz 3 · 3.2kHz 6 · 6.4kHz 5

02Marshall Code Onboard Noise Gate

Essential for the tight, chunky palm mutes — Dimebag used a Rocktron Guitar Silencer

Threshold 6 · Decay 3
Why these settings

Your Les Paul's humbuckers are hotter and warmer than Dimebag's L-500XL, so gain drops from his 9 to 8 and mids stay lower at 3 to maintain the scoop. The Marshall Code's JVM OD2 model is mid-forward by nature, so the onboard graphic EQ is mandatory to carve the 800Hz-1.6kHz valley that defines this tone. The Randall's solid-state tightness is impossible to fully replicate with the Code's modeled tube response, but the noise gate compensates by tightening the attack.

PRO TIPTune to Drop D and anchor your palm mute directly over the bridge saddles—not floating above the strings. Dimebag's pick attack was percussive and precise; dig in hard on the downstrokes and let the noise gate chop the decay. The tone lives in the right hand.
