Why these settings

The original tone relies on a solid-state clean platform pushed by a Boss MT-2, so your Katana 50 MkII should be set to Clean with gain dropped to 2 to prevent muddy double-gain. Since your Les Paul has passive humbuckers instead of the EMG-81 on the record, bump the MT-2 High and Dist slightly to match that razor-sharp attack. Note that the Katana 50 MkII does not have a physical presence knob, so presence is nulled.

PRO TIPSlaughter of the Soul is tuned to B standard (2.5 steps down); use heavy gauge strings (11-56 or 12-60) and dig in hard with heavy, angled downpicks right next to the bridge saddles for maximum percussive scrape.
