The Frontman 15G's drive channel is engaged at gain 7 to deliver the aggressive crunch on its own today, though its 8-inch speaker will sound thinner and buzzier than Cantrell's blended JCM800/Randall wall. To compensate for the Stratocaster's bright single-coil bridge pickup vs Jerry's humbucking Seymour Duncan JB, mid is pushed to 7 while treble and the guitar tone knob are rolled down to round off harsh top-end fizziness. Adding a dedicated distortion pedal like a Rat into the clean channel will get much closer to that thick, saturated studio thump.
