To compensate for the brighter, lower-output Telecaster single-coil compared to Cantrell's high-output Seymour Duncan JB humbucker, the pedal's Bottom is boosted to 7 and the guitar tone knob is rolled back to 8 to tame excess high-end spank. The MG30CFX has no physical presence control, so high-frequency cut is managed via the pedal Tone and amp Treble.

PRO TIPJerry Cantrell's live rhythm tone relies on heavy, aggressive downpicking right near the bridge saddle combined with picking hard enough to compress the initial transient for that signature sludgy grind.
