A vintage-voiced 59 Bassman cannot reach modded JCM800 gain levels on its own, so we push the Bright channel hard (Gain 8, Master 7) and crank the Mids to 8 to compensate for the Fender mid-scoop. Adding a high-gain overdrive or distortion pedal into the front end will deliver the remaining compression and infinite sustain needed for Sykes's exact lead tone.
