The JCM900 Lead channel delivers ample high gain, but its diode-assisted clipping is sharper than Eddie's Variac'd Super Lead power-tube sag. To compensate for the Squier Strat's thinner single-coil bridge pickup, bass is pushed to 6 and treble is backed down to 5 to prevent brittle top-end fizz while retaining the punchy upper-mid bite. The amp's own gain carries the tone entirely until an MXR phaser is added.
