The Boss DS-1 provides the aggressive modern distortion, so the Crate GX-15R is set to its clean channel with gain dropped to 2 to prevent muddy double-gain. Because the Jay Turser JT-300 has single-coil pickups compared to the thick humbuckers on the record, the DS-1 tone is pulled back to 4 and guitar tone to 8 to tame ice-pick highs and simulate humbucker body. The Crate GX-15R has no presence knob, so presence is nulled.
