RECOMMENDED — this is essential to the tone. Set for texture, not heavy distortion. A Joyo Vintage Overdrive or any TS-style clone works as a budget substitute.
The Fly 3 is a practice amp with limited EQ (single EQ knob functions as a tone control, not separate bass/mid/treble). Set your EQ knob to 6-7 o'clock position (slightly bright of center) to approximate the DI brightness. Your Fusion-III's humbuckers are hotter and warmer than Parker's single coils, so keep gain conservative and roll tone knob back to 7 to reduce harshness. Without a Blues Driver or similar low-gain OD, you will not fully replicate the gritty texture — the amp's gain alone will sound fuzzier and less articulate.
