Why these settings

Your Gretsch's Broad'Tron humbuckers are warmer and lower output than the EMG 81s on the original—compensate by pushing mids to 7 (vs the JCM800's natural 5-6) and keeping treble at 6 to retain bite. The Mustang's 'British 80s' model approximates the JCM800's midrange aggression; gain at 7 gets the articulate crunch without fizz. Roll tone knob to 8 to tame some of the Gretsch's inherent warmth and add definition.

PRO TIPPalm mute hard and close to the bridge—the original tone's punch comes from Brownsound's tight picking hand, not extra gain. Loosen up slightly on the verse's open power chords to let them breathe.
