Used as a clean boost to push amp into saturation, not as primary distortion source. Level high, Drive low replicates SRV's boost technique.

Why these settings

The Tank G N is a compact solid-state amp without the power-tube sag of SRV's cranked Fenders, so the TS9 must do heavier lifting for saturation. Gain pushed to 7 compensates for the amp's limited natural breakup. Treble at 5 (not higher) prevents the Strat's single coils from getting ice-picky. Rolling tone knob to 6 replicates SRV's darker, fatter neck sound.

PRO TIPSRV's attack came from extremely heavy strings and aggressive picking near the bridge while using the neck pickup—dig in hard with the pick angled slightly to get that percussive snap with fat body underneath.
