The Carvin X-100B has a signature active graphic EQ with boosted 800Hz-1.5kHz midrange, so push Channel 2's Middle control to 8 to get that singing vocal sustain without harshness. Set the Voice selector to the '80s Metal voice for smooth compressed lead gain, and roll your LTD EC-1000 neck pickup tone down slightly to 8 to emulate the warm, rounded attack of Vai's PAF Pro neck humbucker. Set the onboard Champion 100 FX selector to Delay+Reverb (FX Level around 5-6) to replicate the studio rack ambience using only your onboard hardware.
