Rocktron Piranha preamp + Mesa Boogie 295 power amp, custom Jackson V with EMG pickups, Drop B tuning
| Knob | Setting (0–10) |
|---|---|
| Gain | 8 |
| Bass | 7 |
| Mid | 3 |
| Treble | 6 |
| Presence | 4 |
| Reverb | 0 |
| Master | 5 |
01Noise Gate (use NUX built-in)
Essential for Drop B high-gain — kills string noise between riffs
02Tube Screamer / OD (use NUX built-in overdrive as boost)
RECOMMENDED — run as clean boost in front of high-gain model to tighten low-end; if NUX has no OD block, skip this and raise amp gain to 9
The NUX Mighty is a modeling unit — select its tightest high-gain amp model (Recto/Metal type). Original used EMG active humbuckers; your Harley Benton S20 has passive single coils with much lower output and brighter voicing. Compensate by boosting gain +1 from typical settings and rolling treble back slightly to avoid ice-pick fizz. The scooped mids (3) replicate the Rocktron Piranha's characteristic scoop. Use the built-in noise gate aggressively — Drop B tuning on single coils will be noisy.
