Why these settings

The Kustom solid-state power section lacks the natural saturation of a cranked JCM800, so run its drive channel around 8 to get sufficient crunch from the amp alone. Because your Strat single coil has lower output and a thinner, brighter top end than Schenker's humbuckers, push the mids to 8, pull treble down to 5, and roll the guitar's tone knob down to 8 to tame harshness and thicken palm mutes. Adding an SD-1 in front down the road will instantly tighten the bass and deliver the authentic 80s mid-push.

PRO TIPAnchor your palm directly against the bridge saddles for a dry, percussive chug, and dig into the downstrokes with a stiff 1.0mm+ pick right next to the bridge pickup to emulate the bite of Schenker's Gibson Flying V.
