RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The Glarry GA-20 is a practice amp with minimal preamp gain; the original tone's saturation comes from an overdrive/distortion pedal pushing a clean Marshall platform. A DS-1, Rat, or any high-gain dirt pedal will get you there.

Why these settings

The Glarry GA-20 is a small solid-state practice amp with bass/treble-only EQ and low headroom — it cannot generate JCM800-level saturation on its own. The original tone is pedal-driven (MXR or SD-1 into a clean Marshall). I set the amp to maximum clean headroom (gain 2, master 7) and recommend a distortion pedal as the gain source. Bass is pushed to 6 to compensate for the Glarry's thin low-end response vs a full-stack Marshall. Treble at 7 preserves the original's cutting 80s bite.

PRO TIPPick with aggressive downstrokes near the bridge pickup for maximum attack definition — Schenker's tone lives in the pick's snap, not just the gain. If you add the recommended distortion pedal, keep its output (Level knob) high to hit the amp's input hard and wake up what little saturation the Glarry has.
