Why these settings

Per the double-gain rule, run the Boss HM-2W into the EVH 5150 LBX Green (clean) channel with amp gain kept down at 2 to prevent muddy distortion stacking. The HM-2 chainsaw circuit requires every pedal knob dimed at 10 to produce the signature Soundlab/Rotten Sound grind. The EVH naturally has a tight low-end response, so neutral amp EQ allows the pedal's extreme frequency peaks to dominate cleanly.

PRO TIPMika Aalto tunes down to Drop C / D standard with aggressive high-speed palm muting; hit the strings with a stiff 1.5mm+ pick directly over the bridge pickup for maximum chainsaw bite.
