Why these settings

Morello ran his JCM800 with mids and bass maxed and gain cranked on his 50W Marshall. On the Orange Crush 12's naturally darker analog voice and small 6-inch speaker, keep the bass at 6 to avoid muddy flub while pushing the middle and treble to capture the aggressive Marshall bite. The Crush 12 has no presence or reverb control, so those are nulled.

PRO TIPTom Morello tracked the heavy rhythm riffs using the neck pickup (an active EMG single-coil) rather than the bridge; keep your Squier on the neck pickup and dig in hard near the bridge for percussive pick attack.
