RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. This is essential for Brian May's tone; the Rangemaster adds gain and treble sparkle that pushes the amp into singing overdrive. Without it, increase amp gain to 6 and treble to 7 as a compromise.
The Mustang LT25's '65 Twin model is cleaner and more scooped than an AC30 Top Boost. Mid is pushed to 7 (vs AC30's ~6) to compensate for Fender's inherent mid-scoop. Treble dropped to 6 because the Twin model's treble shelf is higher and harsher than the AC30's chime. Without a treble booster pedal, this amp cannot replicate the Rangemaster's harmonic push—bump gain to 6 if going booster-less.
