01Fuzz Face style (e.g., Dunlop FFM3 Fuzz Face Mini)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Critical for the solo tone. Silicon version preferred. Without this, use OD2 channel with gain at 7 for an approximation, but it won't sing the same way.

Fuzz 8 · Volume 7

02Delay (e.g., Boss DD-3 or amp's built-in digital delay)

RECOMMENDED or use MG30CFX built-in delay. Set delay time to approximately 350-380ms. Single repeat, moderate mix. Essential for the spacious Gilmour sound.

Why these settings

The Hiwatt's massive clean headroom is impossible on the MG30CFX — Marshall solid-state amps break up differently and lack that glassy high-wattage platform. Your AS73's humbuckers are warmer and darker than Gilmour's single coils, so I've pushed mids +1 and kept treble moderate rather than bright. The MG's OD1 channel at low gain gives the cleanest foundation; without a fuzz pedal, you'll struggle to get the singing sustain — the amp's gain alone produces a grittier, more compressed distortion rather than Gilmour's open, harmonic-rich fuzz bloom.

PRO TIPGilmour's secret on the solo is picking dynamics and vibrato speed — he picks softly to let the fuzz bloom, then digs in for attack. Roll your tone knob down to 5-6 during the held bends to get that violin-like smoothness, then open it back up for the biting phrases.
