The Laney Cub 12R is an EL84-based Class AB amp—warmer and more compressed than Gilmour's clean, loud Hiwatt. I've set gain at 4 to keep the amp on the edge of breakup rather than fully clean, compensating for the missing Power Boost. Treble pushed to 6 and bright switch ON recovers some of the Hiwatt's crystalline top-end that the Cub naturally lacks. Without a fuzz pedal, you're only getting a crunch approximation—the sustained, violin-like solo tone is impossible without one.
