01Donner Arena 2000 — Big Muff / Fuzz voice

Select the Muff or Fuzz algorithm — this is your primary gain source. The HM-2 Gilmour used has a similar mid-scoop character. Amp stays clean.

Level/Volume 6 · Tone 4 · Gain/Sustain 7

02Donner Arena 2000 — Delay

Set delay time to approximately 500-540ms. Gilmour used long, atmospheric repeats. This is critical to the Sorrow sound.

Time 7 · Feedback/Repeats 5 · Mix/Level 6

03Donner Arena 2000 — Chorus (if available)

Gilmour used a Boss CE-2 on one side of his stereo rig. Subtle chorus adds width and shimmer. If your unit lacks chorus, skip this.

Why these settings

Your JP60 has hot humbuckers vs Gilmour's single-coil Steinberger — roll tone to 6 and use the neck pickup to tame the brightness and approximate that singing sustain. The Rocktron's gain stays at 2 because ALL drive comes from the Arena 2000's fuzz/muff setting; stacking amp gain would mud up the iconic open, sustaining tone. Mids scooped to 3 mimics the HM-2/Big Muff character.

PRO TIPPlay with extremely slow, deliberate vibrato and let notes sustain into feedback — Gilmour's Sorrow tone is as much about touch and silence between notes as it is about gear. If you can, stand closer to your amp to encourage controlled feedback on the long held notes.
