01Big Muff style fuzz (e.g. EHX Big Muff Pi, Tone City Fuxx Fuzz, or Behringer SF300)
RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Essential for this tone. The Orange Crush's dirty channel cannot achieve the thick, saturated fuzz character alone. With this pedal, set amp to Clean channel and gain to 2-3 instead.
The Orange Crush 20 is warm and compressed with less mid-scoop than a Hiwatt, so mid stays at 7 to replicate Gilmour's cutting presence. Without a Big Muff, the Dirty channel at gain 7 gives the closest approximation to fuzz saturation this amp can produce, but it lacks the thick harmonic sustain of the original—a fuzz pedal is strongly recommended. Tone knob rolled to 7 tames the Strat's ice-pick bridge brightness.
