RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. Place BEFORE amp input. Boost 400Hz-800Hz to add punch entering the preamp. This is essential to Dimebag's tone—the mid-boost before distortion is what gives the attack its definition before the post-preamp scoop.
Your GRG170DX has passive Infinity humbuckers—lower output and warmer than Dimebag's hot EMGs—so gain is pushed to 8 to compensate. The Debut 50R lacks an FX loop for the post-preamp scoop, so mids are dropped to 3 on the amp itself. ISF set fully British (clockwise) gets closer to the tight, aggressive Randall voicing than the American side.
