Why these settings

The Vault Frenzy 20 is a budget solid-state amp which actually suits Dime's tone better than tubes—his Randalls were solid-state. Push gain to 8 and scoop mids to 3 to approximate the scooped Randall voicing. Without an EQ pedal, you lose the surgical mid-cut that defines Dime's chainsaw attack; the amp's mid knob alone won't get as extreme. Treble at 7 compensates for the Vault's darker voicing vs Randall's ice-pick highs.

PRO TIPDime's attack came from extremely hard picking directly over the bridge pickup with the pick angled sharply—dig in like you're trying to cut through the strings. This creates the percussive 'chunk' on palm-muted riffs that no amount of EQ can fake.
