Why these settings

The Dean M-10 practice amp needs its drive switch engaged and gain pushed hard to mimic Dime's aggressive solid-state Randall clipping. To compensate for low-output Strat single-coils versus a hot Bill Lawrence L-500XL humbucker, roll the guitar tone knob down slightly to 8 to shave off ice-pick high end while keeping the amp mids scooped and treble present. Clean intro/outro: disengage the amp drive switch and switch the Strat to the neck pickup.
