Why these settings

The Peavey Rage 158 is a 15W solid-state practice amp with no dedicated high-gain channel and limited headroom — it cannot produce Dimebag's saturated tone on its own. The MT-2 becomes your preamp; amp gain stays low (3) to keep it clean and let the pedal deliver all the distortion. Bass is moderate (4) because the MT-2 already has massive low-end and the Rage's small 8-inch speaker will flub out if you push both. The Hellraiser's active EMGs are hotter than Dime's passive Dimebucker, so MT-2 Dist at 7 (not 10) avoids fizzy over-saturation.

PRO TIPDimebag's right-hand attack was the secret weapon — plant your palm firmly on the bridge saddles and use aggressive downstrokes with the pointed tip of a heavy pick (Dunlop Tortex 1.14mm or similar) for that machine-gun chunk on the low-E sixteenth-note riffs.
