Why these settings

The VX15GT is a modeling amp with Vox-voiced architecture — naturally mid-forward and chimey, the opposite of Dimebag's scooped solid-state Randall. Mids dropped to 2 to compensate for Vox's inherent mid-push. The Squier's ceramic single-coil bridge pickup is thinner and lower output than the L-500XL humbucker, so gain is maxed and bass raised to 7 to add body. Without the dual EQ pedals that defined Dime's front-end boost and surgical mid-scoop, the amp alone cannot replicate the tone — the EQ pedal recommendation is essential.

PRO TIPDimebag's right-hand attack was critical — he picked hard directly over the bridge pickup with the pick angled sharply for maximum treble 'clank' on palm-muted chugs. Dig in aggressively on downstrokes and keep your palm muting tight against the bridge saddles for that percussive, machine-gun low-E chunk.
