01Hell Babe Wah

Use sparingly for solo accents only — heel-down for rhythm, sweep toe-down on sustained solo notes

02Behringer SF300 Super Fuzz

Mode 2 (Fuzz 2) for tighter, more aggressive gain. This is your primary distortion source — amp stays clean. Bypass for the clean intro section.

03Delay

Short slapback (300-400ms) with low mix for solo sections only. Bypass for rhythm.

04EQ Pedal (6-band or 10-band)

RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The V-scoop EQ is essential to Dimebag's tone. Cut 400-800Hz hard, boost lows and highs. A Boss GE-7 or Behringer EQ700 ($25-30) gets you there. Place after fuzz, before amp.

Why these settings

A bass amp into a Strat with a fuzz is a brutal mismatch for Dimebag's tone — his rig was a hot humbucker into a high-gain solid-state amp with surgical EQ. Your bass amp lacks the voicing and your single-coils lack output. The SF300 on Mode 2 provides usable aggression, but you need an EQ pedal to scoop the mids — without it, you'll get muddy fuzz, not Dimebag's razor clarity. Bass amp's mid control is likely absent; compensate by rolling treble up and pushing the fuzz's tone knob high.

PRO TIPPalm-mute HARD and right at the bridge saddles — Dimebag's percussive 'chunk' comes from extremely precise, aggressive right-hand muting with the pick attacking almost perpendicular to the strings. For the clean intro, switch to neck pickup, roll your guitar volume to 6, and bypass all pedals.
