Why these settings

The Orange Crush 15R features Master Volume, Low, Mid, High, Gain, and Overdrive switch (presence is not physically present on the faceplate, so it is null). To prevent double-gain mud when slamming the Boss DS-1 into the front end, the amp's Overdrive switch is kept off with gain at 2. The Orange's naturally thick low-mids balance the snappy short-scale single coils of your Mustang, requiring a slight tame on the DS-1 Tone knob to prevent harsh clipping.

PRO TIPFor the intro and verse arpeggios, pick softly right over the end of the fretboard with your fingers or a light plectrum to maximize the pillowy, submerged lo-fi texture before digging in hard near the bridge when engaging the DS-1.
