Why these settings

The Fender 10G is a small practice amp with no overdrive channel — it cannot produce metal tones on its own. The Metal Muff must do ALL the gain work; amp is set to stay clean (gain at 2) and simply amplify the pedal's output. Bass is moderate at 4 because the 10G's small speaker will flub out with too much low-end. Treble at 5 compensates for the Strat's single coils being brighter than the humbuckers on the original.

PRO TIPRoll your Strat's tone knob to 7 to tame the single-coil ice-pick on high gain. Palm-mute aggressively and pick near the bridge for the tight, percussive attack that defines this era of metal.
