01Scream 808 (HX Stomp drive block)
Approximates DS-1 midrange punch; placed before amp block in signal path
Kurt's Mesa preamp had mid-forward voicing that the HX Stomp's US Deluxe clean doesn't inherently possess, so mids are pushed to 7 and a Scream 808 block handles the DS-1's drive character. The Strat's single coils are brighter and lower output than Kurt's Jaguar humbuckers, so treble is dropped to 5 and tone knob rolled to 8 to darken the top end. Bass at 6 retains low-end thickness without mud.
