01Boss DS-1 Distortion
Primary distortion source (analogous to Kurt's DS-2 Turbo I)
Kurt drove a clean Mesa Studio Preamp with a Boss Turbo Distortion, so your DS-1 acts as the entire gain source running into the Joyo DC-15's JC Clean voice with amp gain dropped to 2 to prevent muddy double-gain. Because your Fender Player Strat has single-coils rather than Kurt's hot DiMarzio Super Distortion humbucker, the DS-1 Tone is pulled back to 4 to cut harsh ice-pick frequencies while bumping Bass to 6 on the amp's 2-band EQ. Mids and presence are set to null because the DC-15 faceplate lacks dedicated mid and presence knobs. Clean verse: step on the DS-1 to bypass distortion and let the amp clean voice ring out.
