RECOMMENDED — not currently owned. The Blend knob is critical: keep it around noon to retain clean lows under the fuzz. Without this pedal the tone is unreachable; a standard Big Muff or Behringer SF300 is a budget substitute but lacks the blend control, so you'd need to run a clean parallel signal or accept muddier lows.
The Orange Crush Bass 50 is a clean, solid-state amp with a pointed mid character — it won't produce the Marshall DBS grind on its own. Amp stays clean (gain 3) so the Big Muff is the sole dirt source; mid pushed to 7 to compensate for the P-bass's thicker fundamental vs the original J-style Pedulla. Without the fuzz pedal, max the amp gain to ~7 for mild grit, but you'll only hint at the tone — the Big Muff is non-negotiable for the real sound.
