Gain boost in front of the amp model to replicate Lukather's modded preamp push
On the Yamaha Pacifica 012's ceramic bridge humbucker, we use the MG-300's Deluxe Reverb amp model driven by the onboard Tube Man block to replicate Lukather's hot-rodded Fender studio sound. We bump the amp's mid and treble slightly to capture the tight attack and prevent the low end from getting muddy on the staccato riff. Presence is set to null as the Deluxe Reverb model on the MG-300 uses a traditional 3-band EQ without a presence control.
