Why these settings

The MG15G lacks the complex quad-tracked Mesa IIC+/Marshall blend of the Black Album, so we push the Overdrive channel gain to 8 and scoop the mids down to 3 to emulate the signature Mesa 5-band graphic EQ 'V' shape. The Yamaha Pacifica's passive bridge humbucker has less output than Hetfield's active EMG 81, so keep the guitar volume and tone wide open to retain high-end cut. Adding a TS-style overdrive pedal out front as a clean boost will tighten the 8-inch speaker's low end significantly.

PRO TIPAnchor your palm firmly against the bridge saddles and execute strict downpicking with a heavy, stiff pick (1.0mm+) right above the bridge pickup to capture the percussive chug of the main riff.
