Why these settings

The Orange Crush 20 is warm and compressed with thick low-mids — opposite of the scooped, raw Marshall aggression on Kill 'Em All. I pushed mids to 7 to compensate for the Orange's natural mid-hump and kept bass moderate at 5 to prevent mud. Your Strat's single coils are significantly lower output and brighter than the humbuckers used on the original, so a DS-1 in front is critical to achieve the required saturation and tightness — the amp's dirty channel alone will sound thin and underpowered for this tone.

PRO TIPPalm mute directly over the bridge saddles with the heel of your picking hand for maximum tightness — early Hetfield's attack is extremely percussive and clipped. Angle your pick slightly and use aggressive downstrokes on the main riff to replicate the Kill 'Em All chug.
