RECOMMENDED — not currently owned; required to achieve authentic high-gain thrash saturation into a bass amp
The Fender Rumble 500 is a dedicated bass amplifier with a naturally clean, full-frequency response and no tube preamp saturation, so we engage the built-in Overdrive circuit and push Gain to 9 to get all available grit from the unit alone. We scoop the Low-Mid/High-Mid controls to 3 while boosting Bass to 7 and Treble to 8 with the Bright switch engaged to mimic the iconic Mesa Mark IIC+ V-curve graphic EQ. A dedicated high-gain distortion pedal is strongly recommended as an upgrade because a bass combo cannot reach true Mesa high-gain thrash saturation natively.
